Shopping Local at Naturally Nickel-Free Artisan Jewelry
When my husband began to rent space in a local shop for his home-grown computer business in 2012, the question presented itself about whether I would like to use a part of that space for a small jewelry display. So without much of a strategy, I carved out a little space for myself and put some jewelry out between craft shows. Well, then the pandemic happened and I just needed to pull all the jewelry out and go entirely online for a while.
But currently, it seems like some fresh choices are in order.
I am finally making my jewelry available to local Des Moines area customers again for in-person shopping. I will be taking appointments on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and hope to build my schedule as I go.

The jewelry at my little nook is only a partial inventory, so if you are a casual shopper and just want to see what happens to be there - I can definitely help. If you are a little more targeted in your approach, you might prefer to do some pre-shopping on my website. This would be one way to see if there is a specific item you want to purchase, or to be sure to see in person.

If you happen to be one of CW's computer customers (that's my husband), and you would like to buy some jewelry at the same time you're doing business with him, you can absolutely do that. Our building is a light gray early 1900's brick structure, which we are told was once a corner grocery store. Street parking is available (for free) in front of the building or around the corner. Our location is the "center" door under the red awning, clearly marked "2620."
What's In It For You?
An obvious benefit of shopping in person is that you get to see the jewelry for yourself and take it home that day. Additionally, if you have a question or want to discuss a custom order, we can talk about it in real time. Avoiding the shipping fee can be a nice perk too.
And if you must know, I selfishly enjoy meeting and helping my customers.
So, What About COVID?
I've done a couple of key things to make things safer for us both. For one thing, the reason my appointment hours are so limited is that we are working around CW's shop schedule on Mon / Wed / Fri. We are trying, in this very simple way, to limit the number of people who are coming and going in our small space.
I have also recently purchased all new covered jewelry display racks. I am happy to pull out anything that you want to see, but at least this will be one level of keeping things clean (and more dust-free).
And yes, I am asking all of my customers to mask up (and I will do the same). Additionally, when items are handled by a customer, I will clean them before they are put away. I'm sure we can make this work.
Local Is A Value
Serving local customers like you is quite simply a value I have. Doing business in our own home towns is something we just shouldn't take for granted. If we are going to serve our communities we need to know our neighbors.
