This lovely necklace is made of niobium wire and Red Creek Jasper Beads. I have created a toggle clasp to finish it off. Each natural stone bead is unique in color, and is 12 mm flat round in size. 20.5 inches long (52 cm), I think it is long enough to have a slight drape for most people and most collars, but short enough not to be in the way.
Niobium metal is naturally nickel-free. Many metals that are commonly used in jewelry are alloys, which often include nickel. Nickel makes soft metals harder, and its shiny silver color is attractive. Even a trace amount of nickel can be enough to cause a rash in someone who is sensitized to it. But Niobium is classified as commercially pure (min. 99.95%) - It simply doesn't need other metals to stiffen it. There are no “mystery metals” here – you will know exactly what is in your jewelry.
The necklace in these photos is the same one that you will receive, and will arrive in a simple gift box. I make each item by my own hand, using only nickel-free materials. I create all findings and fixtures from raw materials so that I can guarantee what metals you will wear against your skin.
